Overview

Opossums move into garages, crawl spaces, under decks, and occasionally attics, drawn by pet food and shelter. They are mostly harmless but they leave a mess, and a mother with joeys is not something you want to surprise. We remove them humanely and close up the way they got in.

Signs to look for

How you know it is time to call.

Any one of these is enough. Two or more means there is an animal already inside.

Hissing or low growling from under the deck or in the garage
Pet food disappearing overnight
Droppings the size of a cat's near the foundation
A strong musky odor in a crawl space
Nighttime sightings on fences and decks

We find the den and check for young before removal.

Opossums are trapped and relocated with their young whenever possible.

Entry points are sealed and the den area is cleaned and deodorized.
