Overview

Bats do not chew their way in. They slip through gaps as small as a dime, follow the airflow and the scent of their own guano back to the same spot, and grow the colony year after year. A patch job on the one hole you noticed will not solve it. We seal the entire house and let the bats exclude themselves.

Signs to look for

How you know it is time to call.

Any one of these is enough. Two or more means there is an animal already inside.

A bat flying inside the house, often in late summer
Squeaking or scratching in the walls at dusk and dawn
Dark staining or droppings below a gable, vent, or soffit
A strong ammonia smell coming from the attic

How we handle it

Our process, start to finish.

Full exterior inspection
We walk the roofline, soffits, vents, chimney, and siding to find every active and potential entry point, not just the obvious one.

Seal the entire house
Every gap larger than a quarter inch is sealed with materials matched to the home. Bats hunt for the next opening, so we close them all.

Install one-way doors
At the active entry points we install one-way exclusion devices. Bats leave to feed at night and cannot get back in.
04
Remove devices and finish
Once the colony is out, we remove the devices, seal those final openings, and inspect the attic for guano and damage.

Can you just kill the bats?

No, and you would not want us to. Bats are protected in Michigan and dead bats in your walls create a far worse problem. Exclusion is humane, legal, and permanent when it is done right.

When can bat exclusion be done?

Exclusion cannot be performed while flightless pups are in the roost, typically June through early August. We inspect and seal year round and schedule the one-way doors for the right window.

Will the bats come back?

Not if the house stays sealed. Our exclusion work is backed by a written warranty, and we return to fix any gap that opens up.
